The lab side of TerraBrains turns spreadsheets into a workflow. Entry queues for the tests you actually run, calibration tracking that flags overdue equipment, custody transfer that survives an audit, and certificates that are signed and chained.

Each test type has its own structured entry queue. Field-by-field validation against ASTM and BS where applicable. Auto-classification on the back of the values you enter. The result links back to the source sample without you having to wire it up.

Equipment calibration · 02

Calibration tracking with due and overdue states.

Every piece of lab equipment carries its calibration history. The lab dashboard flags overdue items before they enter a test, so you never sign a certificate based on an instrument that was out of calibration on the day.

Custody transfer · 03

QR-tagged custody chain — sample to certificate.

Each sample carries a QR token from the rig. Custody transfer at the lab uses the same token, with the receiving technician’s signature on the audit chain. You can trace any test result back to the borehole it came out of.

Signed certificates · 04

Certificates that are signed and chained, not just exported.

A lab certificate in TerraBrains is signed by the technician, signed off by the lab manager, and hashed into the audit chain. Each PDF carries the chain hash on the footer — re-verify on demand, in court if necessary.

Datalogger ingestion · 05

Raw frame output → a reduced result. No manual peak-picking.

Paste or upload the CSV from an automated load frame (Controls, VJ Tech, GDS, Humboldt, Wykeham Farrance) and TerraBrains reduces the raw load–displacement series straight to qu, cu and the stress–strain curve — barrelling-corrected, units auto-detected, every bad row flagged. That kills the #1 lab error: re-typing a peak off the machine screen. 47 test workflows in all — from Atterberg and the full triaxial / consolidation suite to ring-shear residual strength for reactivated landslides, pinhole dispersion for dam cores, and organic content.

A sample particle-size certificate — the grading curve, the derived coefficients and the USCS class are computed to IS 2720 / ASTM D6913, with calibration, custody and the signing engineer sealed onto the record.

Calibration

No certificate signed on overdue gear.

Equipment calibration status is enforced at sign-off. If a piece of equipment is overdue, the certificate cannot be signed until calibration is reconciled.

Custody

Every transfer is signed.

Sample receipt, sub-sampling, and disposal all sit on the audit chain. The transfer log is the same record the regulator sees.

Certificate

Signed, chained, verifiable.

Every certificate is hashed into the audit chain. Anyone with the certificate can verify it through /verify without an account.
